The NARS Beach Lifeguard (BL) course is an intensive 6 day course, 5 days of training plus 1 day examination by Surf Life Saving Association Examiners.

Candidates are trained in Beach Lifeguard theory, practical first aid, basic life support and ocean rescue techniques.

Our location at Harlyn Bay allows candidates to put theory into practice in a real surf and beach environment. Candidates must have a good level of fitness and be able to swim 400m in a pool in under 7 mins 30 secs and complete a 200m run in under 40 secs.

Our combined lifeguard and surf instructor courses are very popular and we are the only watersports training company in the UK offering a combined course that can be completed over a 9 day period. In order to work as a surf instructor candidates must hold a lifesaving qualification (either the NARS BL or NARS SLSC) as well as a Level 1 Surf Instructor qualification. The level 1 Surf Instructor award runs from a Fri - Sun followed by the lifesaving award from the Mon - Sat. To book a course choose a Level 1 Surf Instructor date then choose a Lifesaving Course that starts immediately following. Please note courses may be taken at different times if this is not suitable.

You will receive written confirmation and your manual 7 days prior to course start date provided course balance has been paid in full.
